I know that you will have been inundated with ‘It’s Christmas!’ messages over the past week or so and I do genuinely hope everyone has at least one fond memory of time spent with loved ones over this festive period.
However, that’s not what this post is about.
This post is about giving a name to who you are and what you do. Not in a ‘let’s stick you in a box and give you a label’ way, but more in a ‘let’s identify just how brilliant you are and how much you are capable of’ way.
I spent a lot of time this week thinking about all the amazing facets each person on this planet has, and how frustrating it is that we all get hung up on the ‘stops’ to achieving what we want rather than ploughing ahead and expecting things to go right for once.
The truth is, there are very few people who genuinely aren’t scared; who never get a bit nervous when taking a risk or taking the next big step in their lives.
We all get nervous. We all have doubts.
It’s just that some people handle these better than others. We can train ourselves not to doubt. We just have to question ourselves every time. It comes back to being mindful of our thoughts and jumping right on any negative ones which pop up – Why am I thinking this? What’s the worst that could happen? How realistic is that? What’s the best thing that could happen?
When we do this; when we turn our thoughts around and look at the best thing that could happen, what we actually do is begin to create that. You know when people say, ‘Now that we’ve been talking about chocolate cake I’m really hungry and I can almost smell the chocolate’? No….just me? You know what I mean! Our brains can’t tell the difference between imagined situations and real ones, which is why, when we have a nightmare, we wake up in a cold sweat because our bodies react how they would do to if the scary story was happening in real life.
Which brings be back to my original point – who we are and what we do. We, my lovely friends, are CREATORS. WE CREATE. All day. Every day. We create whatever thoughts float through our pretty little heads.
And we have a choice.
We can very much choose what we create. We can choose our lives, and our destinies, for the simple reason that science has proved that our thoughts massively impact our reality [research shows positive thinking is the single, non-medical thing that has a genuine impact on the survival rate of cancer sufferers – don’t quote me please, I’m not a scientist or a researcher but I was told that interesting fact by doctors!].
The things holding you back in your lives may be real or imagined, but your body doesn’t know the difference.
Decide what you want and pretend your obstacles don’t exist for a week. Make plans, imagine, invent, CREATE. Look for the opportunities. They will arrive. Believe this and seize them when they do. Have a wonderfully creative festive season and a brilliant start to the New Year!
