The second part of the workbook of A Course In Miracles groups the lessons together in blocks of ten which an over-arching theme for each block. The current block (if you started with Lesson one on 1st January) seems especially poignant and helpful for me at the moment. It seems to sum up the main teachings and pain points we experience and allows us to sink into a sense of calm and peace.

I can be hurt by nothing but my thoughts.
I will not be afraid of love today.
My true identity abides in You [Spirit].
I can elect to change all thoughts that hurt.
My holiness shines bright and clear today.
The hush of heaven holds my heart today.
You are my goal, my Father. Only you. (feel free to replace this with ‘peace’ or ‘love’)
Let me forget my brother’s [/sibling’s] past today.
The past is over. It can touch me not.
My present happiness is all I see.

Whether it is perception or synchronicity, very often the lessons correspond to our current lived experience. Things come up during the day which point to the lesson or give us opportunities to practice it. I think this is a pretty cool way to try out the teachings and see what comes out of them.

Maybe all of this seems irrelevant or very far away from your current experience. Maybe we have lots of examples of how it is impossible to find peace right now. We could certainly argue that. However, I feel better and more peaceful when I believe it is possible. I feel better when I recognise that the past exists only in my own head, so if I’m upset by it, I’m doing that to myself and can be open to healing my thoughts and judgements around it. I can choose how I want to see the world.
