When there is conflict within us, when we are holding onto a belief about something, or someone, or ourselves – when all the evidence points to the contrary – it hurts. We create resistance and incongruity within ourselves that causes us pain and upset. When we fight against what is, based on what we wish it would be instead, we cause our own suffering.

Sometimes, we have to see what is, and accept that we may need to change our opinion or belief about the way we thought it would / should be. Life is what it is. When we stop fighting it, when we surrender, the conflict in our bodies resolve and we feel relief. We don’t have to be happy about how it is, but we don’t have to add to our suffering by creating an extra layer of conflict within us.
